The Jim and Shirley Suttle Scholarship Fund adheres to the following basic evangelical Christian values.
The Holy Bible to be the true revelation of God, in Three Persons, and therefore the only basis for a correct worldview encompassing the physical and spiritual world; and
The Sovereignty of God eclipses all of mankind and mankind’s efforts because "Everything in the Heavens and Earth is Yours, O Lord, and this is Your Kingdom,
You are the ruler of all mankind”, and
Almighty God is active in the affairs of man saying “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”, and
The basis of any correct worldview has been established by “The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ [who] has begotten us again into a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”, and
The Southern Baptist Convention and a multitude of state conventions, local churches, educational institutions and area associations have endeavored to proliferate this message of hope and truth, while reinforcing the worldview produced by that truth to people near and far, and
The success and generosity of the United States is God-given, Biblically rooted and based in the people’s belief in God, in the “rule of Law”, the Judeo-Christian tradition, inalienable rights endowed by God, individual accountability to self, others and God, and the cohesiveness of the American people, and
These core elements of American culture are increasingly obscured by the expanding role of federal government agencies as educator of the people, and
Supporting the concept that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16), we will support biblical-based Christian education.
Many agents of education have lost sight of these truths, have undermined the education of our youth, made assimilation of new immigrants increasingly difficult, and have established curriculums which endanger the long-term future of the American Dream, and
Many Individuals legally migrating to the U.S. from other North & Central American countries may especially benefit from Christian based education, and
The Biblical family unit is foundational to a healthy nation and certain Christian organizations such as Texas Baptist “Children At Heart Ministry” and Oklahoma Baptist Homes for "Children’s Hope Program" work ardently to sustain single-parent family units who can also benefit from additional training and education, and
Therefore, the Jim and Shirley Suttle Scholarship Fund endowment is established to provide approximately three (3) $2500.00 and five (5) $1000.00 scholarships annually. The Fund is administered by the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma.
